SOLD A Vintage Pink Blossom Brooch signed Weiss - Pink Flower Pin

Here you have an original vintage designer signed Weiss costume jewellery brooch in the form of an open flower blossoms on leaves. It is from the late 1950s into the Swinging Sixties.   The cold enamel finish on this lovely pin is bright and strong with pearlised effect - pink on the petals and green on the trio of veined leaves. There are three stamens issuing from the petals and each of these is set with raspberry pink faceted glass jewels sparkling like tiny flowers. The brooch metal is finished in gold plate to the reverse. The contrasts between the curved enamel petals and leaves then the jewelled stamens is most striking with a "stand out" 3-D effect. The  flower brooch is a perfect size being approximately 2 inches in diameter.  It is finished on a circular back plate clearly marked with an oval lozenge marked for the USA designers Weiss.  The brooch fastens with a bar back pin with a secure roll over type clasp.  The central position of the pin ensures that this brooch will sit well on your  coat or jacket lapel or your Hippy Hat without flopping! This Flower pin is in very good used order with small signs of wear at the outer edges of the petals and some plate loss to the circular back plate. Weiss produced high-quality costume jewellery from 1942 to 1971. Compared to other companies of that time, Albert Weiss’s company was small and yet produced bold and beautiful designs of which this brooch is a good example.  In 1942 he opened his own jewellery company on Fifth Avenue in New York City.  Albert retired in 1969. His son, Michael, tried to keep the business going, but it closed two years later in 1971.
