A Square Floral Scarf Clip in a pink toned aluminium - 1950s Rose Scarf Ring
This is a pretty vintage scarf ring in a nice rounded square shape. The outer edge of the vintage scarf clip consists of stylised leaves,raised dots and scrolled patterns on a black ground. Upon this background sits a fully formed open rose flower. The metal on this vintage scarf clip has a pleasing pink tone to it, like a very pale copper. The scarf clip has a ring back and is made of anodised aluminium which is extremely light so very suitable for the purpose. The ring and clip work well. Aluminium metal was first used in jewellery manufacture in the Victorian era and it was commercially in use during in the 1860's. It was used to make Boxes, bijouterie and other items. Records indicate that tiny objects made from it were featured in the Paris Expositon Universelle for the first time in 1855. It also became a popular material for costume jewellery just after World War two and is often found used for necklace chains and bracelets in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Measuring approximately 3.5 cms by 3.5 cms in this m1950's scarf clip is in excellent condition.
