A Pair of Victorian Bachelor Stud Buttons in Natural Striped Red Carnelian

Here is a pair of Victorian Bachelor Stud Buttons which would have been used to fasten stiff collars to shirts,  This pair have been shaped from real agate red carnelian with natural white striped decoration.  They are large in size being slightly over an inch in diameter and with a half an inch from the top domed surface of the carnelian stone to the flat surface of the base metal back plate.  One of the pair has been used more the other as the white plated finish on the 'moon' shaped back plate is totally worn back to the brass on one but remains shiny silver-tone on the other.  Offered in very good order these studs might work as cuff links in a suitable cuff or could be work through a button hole.
