A Bohemian Filigree Antique Jewelled Brooch - Silver colour - Pale Pastel Jewels - circa 1930s
This beautiful brooch is an open Bohemian pressed filigree piece of a very generous size. Set with a magnificent selection of multi-faceted glass stones in assorted pastel colours, this is an elegant and wearable piece of true vintage costume jewellery. The glass jewels used in this brooch are facet cut pointed back pastes, which require generous cupped mounting. . They have been carefully selected and placed to give lots of gentle pastel colour. Each of the jewels have been set by hand onto the metal back plate. There is a central band with a jewelled four petalled iflower to the centre with the same configuration of jewels to the top and bottom; around these are trefoil flowers with three jewels apiece. The colours used include blue, green, aqua blue and yellow. The white metal is a myriad of detailed leaves within a decorated six sided metal frame. This is all pressed filigree, or Gurtler work, which has a slight patina to it and it has a light construction making it sit comfortably on most fabrics without dragging down. This Bohemian brooch is in very good condition. The brooch is circa 1930s in date and in common with other bohemian brooches of this era the pin is held in place by an old fashioned hook c type clasp. The brooch measures 3 inches by just over 2 inches and has a deep 3-D effect..
