A Bakelite Bangle in rich Orange Marmalade Colour dates to circa 1930s to 1950s
Here is a really wonderful vintage bangle in the most delicious colour - a swirly orange and yellow which just reminds me of Orange Marmalade! It is funny how the colours used in Bakelite jewellery are often described in foodie terms! I guess it is something to do with the bright and appealing colours that are seen, particularly in old Bakelite bangles. These special colours are one of the keys to identifying true Bakelite in jewellery and any collector with experience will use the colour as well as other features of each item to evaluate whether the piece is true Bakelite ( phenolic resin) or some other kind of plastic. I have taken a few photos which show this bracelet and the group of Bakelite bangles in the photo helps you to get a better idea of the shape and style of this one too! The shape of this nice, collectables Bakelite bangle is flat on the inner wall with a curved outer wall and it is good and chunky. The condition is excellent and it would be perfect to wear singly, grouped or to add to your collection of early plastic jewellery.
