1960's Satin Purse with Sequinned Flowers (SOLD)
Here we have a fabulous Ivory White Satin Purse which is encrusted with sequins and beads. It has been hand-decorated with delightful open cupped flowers made out of layers of large sequins with bunches of white pearlised beads making up the centre of each flower. The large sequins have a irridescent pinky glow to them and shimmer like natural mother-of-pearl shell. The decoration is the same on both sides of this handbag. This bag was made in the 1960's when the flower motif was very popular and this style is back in fashion again! This kind of hand beaded work was often carried out in Hong Kong; the label inside this great vintage purse simply says 'Empire Made'. Finished onto a goldtone frame and with a snake type goldtone chain handle this lovely handbag will also convert into a clutch purse as the chain can be placed inside. The bag fastens with a goldtone cylindrical 'kissing' type clasp which snaps shut. The lining of this groovy 1960's beaded purse is ivory satin with a little pocket inside to hold a mirror. The condition of this accessory is 'mint' it looks as good as new yet it is approaching 50 years old! Generous enough to hold all a Bride might need on her wedding day, this purse would make a charming replacement for a bouquet. Measurements are: Purse: 8 inches by 5 inches, chain: 12 inches approx.
