1960's Flower Brooch in soft and bright shades of Purple
Chic, stylish and a bit 'Mary Quant' this is a genuine pin from the Swinging Sixties. However this is not a British piece;this lovely old metal cold enamelled Flower Power Pin was made in Providence, Rhode Island, USA - an area which has been at the centre of the US jewelry trade since the earliest days of Vintage Costume Jewellery manufacturing. This is a great example of a 'New Old Stock' piece as it was made in the Swinging Sixties and has lain in a Warehouse until now. The cold enamel finish is bright and strong with three layers of petals. I must issue a little warning about this lovely flower brooch ... it has been almost impossible to capture the true colours. The soft purple colour looks pinky in my photos when it is really soft purple, no hint of pink! That said you can order with confidence as if your jewellery item doesn't please you I have a no quibbles return policy! Back to describing this nice old brooch...The first layer is Bright Purple in colour and has been dot punched, layer two, also dot punched, is a Pastel Purple and the final petal layer is Bright Purple. There is a silver domed button to the very centre which makes a Daisy effect. The contrasts between these colours is striking. The flower brooch is a good size being 3 inches in diameter! It is finished in purple sprayed on white on the reverse. The brooch fastens with a 'v' shaped back pin with a secure roll over type clasp. The position of the pin ensures that this vintage brooch will sit well on your lapel without flopping!
