1960s Floral Brooch by Sarah Coventry - Gold tone Openwork

  This is a classic gold tone vintage brooch by Sarah Coventry. This pin is just like the jewellery worn by Joan in TV's aclaimed Mad Men series. Fasten the gold coloured many petalled flower brooch to the collar of your vintage 1960s dress or jacket and you are instantly transformed back to the era. This floral pin is good quality and is in very good order. The Brooch fastens with a secure roll-over type clasp is a little over 4 cms in diameter and has the special Sarah Coventry GB signature which means it was imported into Great Britain.   Sarah Coventry jewellery was named after Sarah - the granddaughter of Charles H. Stuart, the founder of the company and Coventry the place they originated from. It was established in the USA in 1949 and is recognized as the oldest direct selling jewelry company in the world. Most of their jewellery was produced in the USA but they also worked in Canada.
The company introduced jewellery to the UK in 'Party Plan' sales a bit like the classic Tupperware approach. You can just imagine how exciting it would have been back in the 1960's to get dressed up and go along to see all the lovely costume jewellery and choose a treasure to buy and wear.
