1950s - 60s Beaded and Sequinned Handbag - Hong Kong - Creamy White Perfect for Bride

This satin evening bag in a lovely cream white colour dates from the late1950s into the early 1960s. It is covered with tiny round pearlised glass beads and shiny sequins.  These jewels have all been hand stitched in an intricate pattern of stylised leaves and vines on the handbag on both sides of the purse.  The label within the bag says 'Made in Hong Kong'.  Many lovely beadwork bags were imported into the UK from Hong Kong when it was part of the British Empire.  This is an exquisite vintage piece!  The bag is a good size being approximately 5.5 inches by 7 inches.  It has a gold tone frame and fastens with a gilt kissing type cylinder clasp. It has a good, robust gold tone snake chain handle, which is 12 inches long in total.  It is a convertable purse as the chain handle can be neatly slipped inside to make it into a clutch bag. The interior has a pocket to hold a mirror which has just come unstitched for a few centimetres, it would be simple to pop one or two little stitches here to hold it back if you wanted to.  Apart from this little fault the bag is in excellent, clean condition.  Its colour and the rich beading would make it very suitable for bridal wear or for adding to a collection of vintage handbags and purses.
