1950's - 1960's London Souvenir Compact (SOLD)

The Photos here really don't do this Vintage London Souvenir Compact much justice - it has proved particularly hard to photograph!  Anyway the dark patches on the front of the Compact hardly show and the overall condition is very good - I don't think that this  old collectable Compact has ever been used!  The front shows scenes of popular tourist landmarks in London.  There is a statue of Iros with the tag Piccadilly underneath in the centre, Buckingham Palace is at the top, Tower Bridge to the left, Saint Paul's to the right and The Houses of Parliament at the bottom.  There is also the word LONDON in block capitals at the very top.  These images have been nicely machine engraved and the rear of the Compact is also well finished with a machine engraved pattern. The Compact is finished in goldtone and the mirror, is in good order too.  The Compact looks as if it was designed to take both block powder and loose powder which dates it to between the 1950 and 1960's.  The original powder net, puff and black felt cover are with it too.  The felt cover has come apart at the seam but could be easily restitched.  The Compact has a diameter of 3 inches and is about four tenths of an inch thick.
