1940's Sterling Silver and Marcasite Dress Clip (SOLD)
This is a lovely late forties dress clip and is a nice large size for a silver and marcasite dress clip - approx 4.5 by 3 cms. Made of Sterling silver this English beauty was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1947 and has the makers marks FNW . The design is typical of the late 1940's early 1950's period with foliate swags and a kind of winged design to the top of the clip. Marcasite is a natural mineral - Iron Pyrites - and its subtle sparkle has been used in jewellery for many hundreds of years. The dress clip is in lovely condition and has a good snappy, spiked fastener to hold it in place through a buttonhole or over a neckline. It would look amazing on a little black dress!
