1940's Silver and Marcasite Dress Clip
This silver and marcasite dress clip dates from the 1940's and has an asymetrical design of swirled fronds or feathery pieces set with natural grey marcasite gems. The clip has a top edge with a triangle and dot pattern - harking back to art deco era design. It benefits from pierced work throughout, meaning that there are cut out sections in the design which will ensure that the colour or your frock, coat or whatever the piece is clipped to will show through thus making this vintage clip the perfect match to any outfit. Marked '935' this dress clip is continental European in origin and 935 silver has slightly more pure silver than sterling. It has a secure and strong toothed back clip so would make an excellent hair clip too. In great condition and measuring approx 2 inches by three quarters of an inch at its widest point this silver and marcasite dress clip would make a superb addition to a collection of antique and vintage costume jewellery.
Dress Clips are a really versatile piece of vintage costume jewellery. If you would like to know more about other ways to wear and enjoy vintage dress clips do take a look at 'How to Wear Those Dress Clips' which is on this website in the 'Information and In the Press Section'.
