1940s Rose and Sword Brooch from USA - DESIGNER Signed Coro Pin
Here we have a beautiful example of costume jewellery from the 1940s era in the form of a Rose and Sword Pin. The rose and sword or pierced rose and dagger are symbolic and are often used in tattoos. There are many interpretations which focus around love, power and strength and my preferred sentiment for this piece is The Power of Love as the Rose sits on top of the sword and is not pierced through. USA designers “Coro” made many iconic pieces in the 1940s and this is one such piece. Although this brooch is only made in white metal it is extremely well made and has great detail on the hilt of the sword and the rose flowers and leaves. The sword and rose pin can sit anyway you choose as the back plate and pin support it well. On the back plate is the all important “Coro” signature and the pin is held perfectly in place by a roll over type guard. Offered in excellent condition this would be a romantic gift or a great addition to a collection of period 1940s designer Brooches and Pins. The brooch is a decent size being 8 cms long and 3 cms wide with a 3-D effect and a thickness of 2 cms where the rose stands up from the sword.
