1940's Lucite Brooch - Faded Soft Colours - Unusual Shape

Here is a vintage reverse carved lucite brooch from the 1940s.  It is a rectangle with a dome which has been shaped at each end. The design comprises of a central white flower flanked by soft sage coloured leaves and yellow smaller flowers.   It is nice and chunky  measuring 2.5 x 3 x 1.5 cms and is in good order.  I have photographed it next to a £1 coin so it is easy to gauge the size. There is a lot of fading on the green leaves but this just adds to the soft, vintage look that the brooch has and doesn't detract in any way. There is a white metal bar and pin held by a simple 'c' shaped clasp to the rear. This is a most unusual shaped example and it would be a great addition to a collection of early Lucite brooches.

This  vintage pin is a great collectable for anyone interested in Bakelite era and early plastics .  Lucite was Dupont's trade name for their acrylic plastic material which they patented in the 1930's and is usually the name given to brooches and pins of this type.  The most common theme for them is flowers, some abstract and Art Deco in design, others very detailed - so you can tell exactly which flower is being depicted!  Lucite brooches are see through so take on the colour of the item of clothing that they are pinned to.  They look fresh and pretty on white and light colours and striking and dramatic on black and dark colours - How will you wear yours?
