1940s Bakelite Bangle - Root Beer or Tortoiseshell Colour
This vintage bangle is a phenolic resin Bakelite bracelet dating to the 1940s. It has a very rich brown colour with all the warmth of natural Tortoiseshell and is in excellent condition. This colour of bangle is known as Root Beer in the USA. The vintage Bakelite bangle measures almost 3 and a quarter inches across from outer edge to outer edge with the central 'hole' measuring a bit over 2.5 inches with a thickness of a quarter of an inch approx and a width of 1 and a quarter inches. I would say this bangle would fit a medium wrist for sizing purposes. The shape has a flat width with a gentle curve at the upper and lower edge making this a nice choice for grouping with other bangles. For illustration purposes I have included a photo of a group of genuine Bakelite bangles from the 1930s to 1950s era but the price quoted here is for the Rootbeer Tortoise bracelet only.
