1930's Floral Silver and Marcasite Dress Clip (SOLD)
A riot of lovely daisy type flowers make up this delightful dress clip from the 1930's. The dress clip is made of '935' silver which means it is likely to have originated in Continental Europe where many of the great art deco designs, especially in jewellery, originated. Tapering to a point, this dress clip has a border of single daisies with a natural faceted marcasite as the centre for each. The central part of the design is a line of flowers with a leafy section. The largest 'daisy' has a marcasite for its centre and each petal is a marcasite too! Marcasites are a natural gemstone - iron pyrites- and their subtle sparkle has been favoured in jewellery for hundreds of years. Measuring approx 2 inches by 1 inch this dress clip is in excellent condition with a super strong clawed clip to ensure it will stay securely in place. Dress Clips are really versatile and are easy to wear over the neckline of a dress, through a buttonhole, or in the 'v' or a lapel, on a hat band or as a hairslide or hairclip. This dress clip is nearly 80 years old but has such a timeless design it would look bang up to date today! Perfect to wear, gift or add to a collection of antique and vintage silver jewellery.
