1930's Silver and Marcasite Dress Clip Flower and Leaf Detail
A myriad of sparkling marcasite jewels decorate this delightful dress clip from the 1930's. The dress clip is made of '935' silver which means it is likely to have originated in Continental Europe where many of the great art deco designs, especially in jewellery, originated. Tapering to a point, this dress clip has a border of single natural faceted marcasite stones with a double row to the curved top. The central part of the design is in a cut out style with a curlicue and to the top a single daisy type tiny flower with a leaf to each side. The 'daisy' has a marcasite for its centre and each petal is a marcasite too! Marcasites are a natural gemstone - iron pyrites- and their subtle sparkle has been favoured in jewellery for hundreds of years. Measuring approx 1.5 inches by .75 of an inch this dress clip is in excellent condition with a super strong clawed clip to ensure it will stay securely in place. Dress Clips are really versatile and are easy to wear over the neckline of a dress, through a buttonhole, or in the 'v' or a lapel, on a hat band or as a hairslide or hairclip. This dress clip is nearly 80 years old but has such a timeless design it would look bang up to date today! Perfect to wear, gift or add to a collection of antique and vintage silver jewellery.
Dress Clips are a really versatile piece of vintage costume jewellery. If you would like to know more about other ways to wear and enjoy vintage dress clips do take a look at 'How to Wear Those Dress Clips' which is on this website in the 'Information and In the Press Section'.
