1920's Flapper Necklace - Faux Amber and Cream Beads (sold)
Here we have a long necklace of yellow and cream beads. These are special, collectable beads as they are made from the early bakelite era plastic, Casein. There are beads in an oval shape in a nice tone of yellow which are to imitate Amber. The round beads have been carved in the Japanese style and are cream in colour. There are 38 of each colour making 76 old beads in all. The yellow oval faux amber beads graduate in size with the largest central bead measuring approximately 2.5cms in length and the smallest being 1cm in length. The round beads are all the same size with a diameter of approximately 1cm. The carvings on these beads vary and some are still well defined with lines fully picked out in a contrasting brown colour whilst others are faded back to the carving only with no colour. This gives a really good effect and makes them look like beads from antiquity. This necklace would have been all the rage in the 1920s. The necklace is very long at 45 inches and it is on just a knotted string with no clasp.
