Wedding Hair Bands - With a VINTAGE Twist!
For the bride her hairstyle and hair ornament is a very important part of the outfit. Often there are bridesmaids too - all needing that pretty and decorative finishing touch to their look. Antique Tiaras can be prohibitively expensive and are becoming increasingly difficult to source and vintage pieces that are ‘just right’, in good condition and a comfy fit are also hard to secure. The answer may be to utilize a genuine antique or vintage brooch or buckle and pop it onto to a new hair band. Some pieces of vintage costume jewellery lend themselves perfectly to this challenge and I am happy to offer some choices here. Each hair band is ‘one of a kind’ the only one in the world! I have decided to give each a pretty name that suits its particular personality! All of the lovely brooches used to adorn the hair bands are genuinely old items in excellent order. They can be easily removed from the head bands to wear as a brooch and provide a lovely keepsake forever…. I wanted my wedding hair bands to be really affordable. I am not in this business just to make money! As such the hair bands themselves are from High Street chains – they are not made of real silk and satin and they are simple in construction but very easy to wear, they have some flexibility and so are ‘one size fits all’ for an adult. If you wanted the same look for a little bridesmaid you could purchase a child’s hair band and pin the brooch to it. If you like the idea of a particular band and want to use your couture dressmaker to make a band for you it would be easy to use the delightful brooch on your own bespoke hair ornament. Finally, you may have your own lovely antique or vintage brooch at home to use on a band – make sure it is light enough as a heavy brooch will need more anchoring to stay in place!
