Here is a nice example of a 19th Century sentimental message pin. It is a maple type leaf brooch with the greeting 'BEST WISHES' picked out in bold capital letters. There is a bold rim around the brooch and the leaf part has nice detailed veins and a tiny stem. The brooch doesn't have a full silver hallmark just the words - SILVER and the letters 'RB' which are most likely the makers mark. It is a small sized item being approximately 1inch by 1 inch at its widest parts. It is in very good condition and fastens with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp and pin. Antique jewellery which sends a message makes an interesting gift. A Victorian message brooch like this would also sit well in a collection of 19th Century name brooches.
