This is a great little vintage pin made of hand carved bone. It features a perfect Edelweiss flower with its stamens hand painted in yellow and grey. This Edelweiss is flanked by hand painted blue and pink bell flowers each with a carved stamen. The blue flower has teeny yellow dots which look like flecks of pollen - the detail on all of these carved flowers is fabulous! There are two bone leaves behind the central flower and a little bit of green cupping the blooms. The reverse of the brooch is signed 'Innsbruck' so no doubt it is a souvenir piece and I would estimate it dates from between the 1930's and the 1960's when work such as this was extremely popular. This vintage brooch measures just 1.5cms by 4.5cms. It will delight a collector of souvenir jewellery or would just 'jolly up' an outfit!
