Lea Stein - Large Elephant Pin - Big Cream Elephant Brooch (Sold)

This fantastic  Elephant brooch is the work of Parisian designer Lea Stein. It is made of layered celluloid acetate or rhodoid.  Lea Stein makes elephant pins in two sizes and this is the larger one.  The elephant is holding up his trunk which is recognised as a good luck gesture!  The colours used for this pin are a marbled cream patterned shiny mother-of-pearl effect body and head . The ear and tusk are a great contrast being black. There is a classic stripey Lea Stein tiny ball for his beady eye in caramel brown, toffee and cream stripes.  The under layers of the ear has stripes in shades of pink, mauve and black. The reverse of the brooch is in white striped pearl finish with the black tusk.  Naturally there is the trademark 'v' shaped pin to the back which has Lea Stein's signature and a secure roll over clasp.  The Elephant brooch measures 3.5 by almost 3 inches at is widest points.  This is a super design from Lea Stein who is famed for her jewellery, particularly her animals which have featured cats, foxes, dogs, birds and many other things over her history.          Now for that history -
