A really cute and collectable ceramic porcelain brooch marked 'Made in France' - Limoges. The brooch, which dates from the 1950's, shows a gentleman in blue breetches and a red cloak serenading a lady in a pink crinoline gown. Our romantic couple (which look as if they are 18th or early 19th century folk) are in a garden - you can see the stone pillar and greenery and a path. The design is a transfer printed one but it has been embellished by hand. This vintage brooch has a rope twist pattern border, it is likely to be brass with an old gold finish. The brooch is in very good order. To the reverse it fastens with a old fashioned long pin guard - a bit like those found on old tie pins. Size is an inch and a half square. A nice vintage costume jewellery item for a collector or a marvelous item for the doll's house - it would make a perfect miniature portrait for the wall!
