This is a delightful old brooch of a ship in full sail. Dating from the 1940's era this silver and marcasite Galleon brooch is in great condition. Measuring around one and three quarter inches by 2 inches in size this brooch would certainly get noticed on the lapel of your jacket or coat. The detail on this sterling silver brooch is superb with the masts, rigging, flags and sails decorated with natural cut marcasite stones. The reverse on the brooch is marked 'SILVER' and it has a good dark patina which adds to its antique appeal. It fastens with a secure roll over type clasp and has a good sturdy pin.
