This is a most unusual and very stylish hairslide. I have never seen another quite like it! It is made of celluloid to imitate tortoishell and has inlaid triangular panels which imitate mother-of-pearl shell. The pleasing contrast between the warm honey browns and the creamy pearls really make this one special. The design screams Art Deco and is certainly from the 1920's to 1930's era. It has a curved rectangular shape and measures approx 4cm by 3cms. The little hairpin fastener on the back is made of brass with a brass ball closure and it sits across the width of the slide rather than the length. This would be lovely to wear for everyday or for evening or would make a wonderful addition to a collection of vintage accessories or early plastic bakelite era jewellery.
