1920'/1930's Art Deco Celluloid Haircomb (SOLD)

This is a very nice hair accessory from the  early Art Deco period .  It has good strong colouring being a rich mottled brown with an almost golden honey tone - just like the tortoiseshell it is so cleverly imitating!   Made from the early plastic celluloid it is robust and wearable still.    It measures 5.5 inches from the top to the tip of the prongs and is just 3 inches across at the widest point.   The design is very open and pretty which makes this piece just perfect  to use or for a collector of hair accessories and  antique and vintage costume.
